With radiant heat, the heat source is directly beneath the flooring, so the flooring may gain moisture or dry out faster than a similar floor in a home with a conventional heating system. It is very important to choose the right wood floor. That can be sustainable and has mositure resistance against the heating system. It is not sure that all wood species are good, each wood has its own nature of shrinking, stress fractures, gaps and twisting. It is better to consult with your local wood buyer or contractor for getting right species suitable over radiant heating system. Laminated/Engineered Wood FlooringThe plus point of this wood is more dimensionally stable than solid wood flooring.
Floating Floors, Laminated/Engineered or Solid
Very popular wood species normally known as laminated wood flooring. It is tend to move as a unit to assist moisture content changes.
Inherent Dimensional Stability
Such species are American Cherry, mesquite, teak, American walnut, etc. Brazilian cherry are unstable. So be careful in selection.
Rift Swan Wood Flooring
Rift swan wood flooring is very common in North America because of more dimesnionally stable than plain swan wood flooring. It comes with narrow boards, it is best suited for solid wood flooring over radiant heat. Strip flooring is also a better choice than plank flooring.
Type of installation of wood flooring

- Glue down.
- Direct nail to subfloor.
- T & G direct nail to sleepers.
- Single layer of plywood on sleepers.
- Double plywood floating.
- Floating solid/clip.
